A
most delightful and informative site. I envy your travels to my favorite part of
Europe. Must plan to visit while I can still put one foot in front of the other.

(2008
Update) I went on #3331 (Alphine Walking in Austria &
Italy) June 22 - July 6, 2008. I truly enjoyed it. The people were wonderful;
the couples made the single people feel very much a part of the group and everyone was so
nice. The hotels and food were outstanding. I do wish I would have signed up
for the September trip, though, as it was very hot especially the first 3 days. They
said it was very unusual to have it so hot already. The heat made the hiking
harder. There were 4 of us in the "less energetic" group (i.e.,
slow). The rest (including an 80 year old woman) did all parts of the hikes no
matter how steep. I needed to stop and catch my breath when the inclines went
on too long without leveling off. The people in the other group were serious hikers
who never seemed to need to pause. It's surprising how many older people are really
in good shape! But it worked out well because the guide divided us up into 2 groups.
I went over a day early and spent a day by myself in Munich and then met up with the
group at the airport the next day. Everything worked out well. Elderhostel and
European Walking Tours had everything well planned and organized throughout the entire
tour. No glitches at all. I hope to take more Elderhostel tours in the future,
though I won't sign up for anything Level 5 anymore. I guess I don't like to
work that hard hiking.
