| DAY 6 DRIVE FROM
CASTELROTTO TO SEEFELD, AUSTRIA |
|
Highest bridge in Europe - 622 feet high |
| We left Castelrotto heading for Seefeld, Austria retracing our path over the Brenner Pass. We stopped for lunch at the ancient town of Bressanone / Brixon in northern most Italy for a short visit. It turned out to be a major religious holiday and many of the points of interest were closed for the celebration. |
Walled city of Bressanone
Bressanone's early history focused on its role as a religious administrative center for the bishop of the region. A walk through the city will take you past the Parish Church, The Cathedral and the Episcopal Palace and gardens |
The Cloister Splendid Romanesque building where beautiful 14th or 15th century frescoes adorn the ceiling of the cloister. The strange looking animal painting (right) was a rendering by an artist who had never seen an elephant and this was his best guess. |
||
| We arrived in Seefeld and checked in at the Hotel Veronika, a 4-star hotel centrally located and only two blocks away from the railway station. After checking is and enjoying the first of many afternoon teas", we took a short orientation walk around the town. Where as Castelrotto was a quaint alpine village, Seefeld is an upscale ski resort with many 4-star hotels. |
