      DAY 7 - WILDMOOSALM WALK
We began our first walk out of Seefeld on a day that started partly cloudy and ended with a bit of rain. Normally it would probably have been more scenic since it is advertised by the tourist bureaus as "one of the most beautiful in the Alpine region". Our walk was relatively easy with modest uphill walking that took a little over 31/2 hours to Mosern.  About 7 miles with 700 vertical gain.

We stopped for a picnic lunch and were further rewarded by a
chance for a bit of relaxation before continuing our walk to Mosern.

There are some lovely views from the higher trail looking down into the Inn River Valley (left). The valley serves as the main highway route between Germany and Italy through Austria and there is great concern over increasing pollution as a result of the increasing truck traffic. There is even a suggestion that an extensive rail tunnel system be created to carry trucks from Germany to Italy by rail "piggy-backing".  A final solution still lies in the future.

The "Bell of Peace" (see picture at top of page)  was built on a hillside in Mosern. The massive bell was dedicated in 1972 in the cause of peace and co-operation among 11 alpine countries, regions and cantons.

In Mosern we were met by horse and carriage for the final part of the trip back to Seefeld.
